The untold true story

Growing up in the South Bronx in the 1970s was challenging. When a group of South Bronx youth weren't allowed to play in local football leagues, they created their own. Here is their true story:

This ain't scripted. We lived it.

Hollywood gave you The Longest Yard, Westside Story, Friday Night Lights, Carter High, and Remember the Titans. The lives and events surrounding the South Bronx Football Conference embraced elements of all these movies...and more.

This story is so much more than football.

We went through serious ups and downs when we started our own league. For example, it took a lot of discipline to organize game schedules, weekly team meetings, conference playoffs, practices, hiring referees, getting park permits, and setting up the infrastructure for professional lighting for night games at St. Mary's Park. Let's not forget the romances, the tears, the weddings, and just living day to day gave our lives more passion at the time. Also, the highs and lows of our characters when we were teenagers, along with the South Bronx drama we left behind in the 1970s, played out on that field of dreams. The memories we shared were unique for each of us.

It's time to tell our stories!
